POSITION: Housekeeper
REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities
JOB PURPOSE: The Housekeeper maintains cleanliness and orderliness in college buildings, including dormitories, classrooms, administrative offices, and common areas. The Housekeeper is crucial in maintaining a healthy and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond promptly to housekeeping requests or concerns.
- Spot cleans offices, dorm rooms, suites, and bathrooms, including showers.
- Vacuum common areas and classrooms, clean windows, dust, and mop all tile and entrance areas, and frequently clean spills and overflows.
- Monitors and cleans all high-traffic areas and entrances.
- Performs detailed cleaning of rooms and spaces when students move out at the end of the semester.
- Prepares rooms for incoming and outgoing summer camp participants.
- Waxes and buffs floors in non-carpeted areas as needed.
- Removes and empties garbage and waste paper bins, placing them in designated areas for pickup by Grounds staff
- Report any maintenance issues or repairs needed to the Director of Facilities.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and report shortages to the supervisor.
- Restock toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and other consumables in restrooms and common areas.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Maintain OSHA compliance when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Follow all health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Must wear and provide own safety shoes for use on the job
- Adhere to the College’s policies and procedures regarding housekeeping and facilities maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience, Competencies, and Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous housekeeping or custodial experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
